Abstract

The present study aimed to investigate 7th and 8th grade students’ emphatic tendency levels according to such different variables as mother's working status, father's education level, mother's education level, class level and gender. The data for this purpose is collected with the help of Empathic Tendency Scale prepared by Üstün Dökmen and a personal information form. The data obtained were analyzed by using SPSS/WINDOWS -13.0 program.The sample of this study included a total of 120 7th and 8th grade students (60 7th grades and 60 8th grades) studying in Nilüfer and Osmangazi districts of Bursa during the 2010-2011 educational year. The data for this purpose is collected with the help of Empathic Tendency Scale prepared by Üstün Dökmen and a personal information form. The data obtained were analyzed by using SPSS/WINDOWS -13.0 program. As a result of the study, no significant difference was observed between the variables of gender, mother's working status, mother and father's educational levels, class levels and the students’ emphatic tendency levels.
