Abstract

The use of LARC immediately after elective termination reduces the risk of a subsequent unintended pregnancy when compared with other forms of contraceptive use post-termination. In Delaware, insurers have adopted the policy of not reimbursing for LARC immediately after termination, which has resulted in women opting for other forms of contraception. We sought to determine if this policy affects health care costs and the subsequent pregnancy rate among women undergoing elective termination.
