Abstract
Fertile interspecific hybrids were obtained among four species ofZinnia sect.Mendezia. The collection data and the segregation for ray color in F1 hybrids suggest natural interspecific hybridization. Cytological data suggest that the descent of the four species from a common ancestor was accompanied by reciprocal translocations involving non-homologous chromosomes.
