The evolution of trauma performance improvement

Abstract

Trauma care has evolved into a hybrid form of medicine in which a robust performance improvement (PI) method is necessary to evaluate clinical outcomes. We are measured by standards that have been driven by military and civilian efforts alike in order to utilize data to measure outcomes with benchmarking capabilities. Through structured processes and naming conventions, we continue to strive for the optimal system to catalog judgment results.
