Abstract
“Estuaries and coastal areas trap significant quantities of material and thus act as filters between land and the oceans. It is important to quantify the capacity of these sedimentation basins as filters for different materials and elements. Biological processes may also play an important role in trapping and mobilization of material carried by rivers and land runoff.”
