Abstract
Considered are Eocene sea urchins from Plače near Ajdovščina. Nine specimens were found and eight distinct genera determined: Conoclypus, Echinolampas, Rhyncholampas, Ditremaster, Schizaster, Linthia, Cyclaster and Macropneustes. The species of listed genera indicate Middle Eocene - Lutetian age of beds. The sea urchin assemblage is of mixed character, recorded were forms typical for shallow environments, and others typical for deeper marine environments. The entire assemblage from Plače is comparable with Eocene assemblages of sea urchins of the Tethys sedimentation region.

The specimens belong to eight distinct genera, and to nine distinct species: Conoclypus anachoreta (Agassiz, 1839), Echinolampas amygdala Desor and Agassiz et Desor, 1847, Echinolampas silensis Desor and P. de Loriol, 1875, Rhyncholampas lesinensis (Bittner, 1880), Ditremaster schweinfurthi P. de Loriol, 1881, Schizaster globulus Dames, 1877, Linthia ybergensis P. de Loriol, 1880, Cyclaster cf. subquadratus (Desor, 1858) and Macropneustes deshayesi (Agassiz et Desor, 1847)

Agassiz in Desor (1847, 168) pi{eta, da so primerki te vrste najdeni v eocenskih apnencih najdi{~a Einsiedeln.
