Abstract

As nations across the world seek to transition to a carbon‐free economy and secure their energy generation independence, world leaders are considering the use of many alternative energy technologies. The frequency and intensity of global severe weather events in a changing climate, coupled with the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, have increased the focus on finding domestic sources of clean energy to stabilize energy prices and markets, as reliance on fossil fuels from volatile areas of the world has created significant energy supply, safety, and reliability issues, and increasing costs to those depending upon these energy sources. These and other issues were weighing heavily on the minds of our world leaders as the United Nations General Assembly gathered in New York City this past September.
