Abstract
The Russian gas transmission system is the world’s largest one, with the total length of its gas pipelines equal to 178.2 thousand km. Gas is transported via the main pipelines by compressing it at compressor stations (CS), the average distance between which is about one hundred km. During transportation, part of the gas transferred is taken at the CS from the main pipelines for use as fuel in gas compressor units (GCU). Thus, improvement of the gas transmission system energy efficiency is one of the most promising tasks. A scheme for increasing the GCU energy efficiency by using absorption heat transformers (AHT) is considered. The aim of the study is to increase the energy efficiency of using natural gas in the main gas transmission systems by applying heat absorption transformers. The GCU operation modes were simulated using the Thermoflex software package. All calculations have been performed for one gas compressor unit.
