Abstract
This article examines the emergence of a pension fund management market in Latin America following extensive pension reform in the region. The key feature of pension reform in Latin America has been the partial or total replacement of unfunded social insurance pension schemes with individual capitalisation pension plans. The establishment and development of a pension fund management sector is key to the success of the reforms.
