Abstract

Upon the signature of the African Continental Free Trade Zone Area Agreement (AfCFTA) by the Nigerian President, Nigeria became a member of the largest Free Trade Zone in the world, and being the largest economy in Africa, many opportunities lie ahead for the Nigerian economy. However, this paper submits that if the instability in the Nigerian power sector is not addressed forthwith, Nigeria and its indigenous businesses, rather than enjoy the fruits of the AfCFTA, would be relegated in the continental trade polity.
