Abstract

In this study, the nano-structure MoS2 with the diameter of 40–60 nm was synthesized through a simple hydrothermal method and the carbonyl iron@SiO2 particles were prepared by the Stober method. The electromagnetic properties (ε′, ε″, μ′, μ″) of MoS2/carbonyl iron@SiO2 were measured by the vector network analyzer in the frequency range of 8.2–12.4 GHz for three samples with different MoS2 content. The results shown that the values of complex permittivity and complex permeability can be tailored by the MoS2 content. Compared with carbonyl iron@SiO2 absorbent, the MoS2/carbonyl iron@SiO2 exhibited better absorbing performance at higher frequency range. When the MoS2 content was 15 wt%, the minimum reflection loss value can reach −28 dB at 12.4 GHz when the thickness was 1.6 mm.
