Abstract
SUMMARYZinc-nickel alloy coaling having 8–10% nickel has been deposited from a conventional non-cyanide alkaline zinc plating bath containing Zn. NaOH, and proprietary addition agents. The alloying element, nickel, is added to the bath with a weak complexing agent The influence of the plating bath and process variables such as temperature, agitation and current density on zinc-nickel alloy deposition have been studied in detail. The deposit characteristics and corrosion resistance of Zn-Ni alloy coaling are evaluated and compared with conventional alkaline zinc. Zinc-nickel alloy accepts all conventional Chromate conversion coatings with minor modifications in composition. pH and time.
