Abstract

The synthesis of polypyrrole film was achieved on brass and copper electrodes, by using cyclic voltammetry technique, from monomer containing 0.3 M oxalic acid solutions. The corrosion performance of PPy coated samples were investigated in 0.1 M H 2SO 4 solutions, by using the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), anodic polarization curves and open circuit potential ( E ocp)–time curves. It was shown that PPy coating could provide important protection against the corrosion of copper and brass. However, polymer coating gave better results with copper with respect to brass. The protective behaviour was coming from the barrier property of the coating against the attack of corrosive environment.
