Abstract

Measurements of the electrical conductivity of germanium are described. The results can be explained by the theoretical calculations of Shifrin (1944). An account is given of the relevant part of Shifrin's work. The experimental results are used to deduce the concentration of impurity centres and of thermally excited electrons and the position of the impurity levels.
