Pollen extract sensitization of rats was used in the present experiment to obtain increased concentrations of peritoneal fluid cells before X-irradiation, since it is known that repeated intraperitoneal injections of foreign proteins will increase the number of cells (3-5). The antigen-antibody reactions were not the object of study. The present report describes the effects of X-irradiation on the peritoneal fluid cells as determined by standard hematological countin9 methods in non-sensitized and pollen-sensitized rats. These changes have been correlated with those that occur in the peripheral white blood cell population.
