Abstract

In this study, a planar log periodic trapezoidal dipole array antenna operating 2-6 GHz frequency range is designed. The simulations is performed in CST Microwave Studio (full-wave 3D EM solver) using Rogers 4003C substrate material from program library. In order to reduce antenna size, the antenna design with trapezoidal dipole shape is proposed. Iterative simulations are performed to obtain better voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) along the operating bandwidth. The effects of the trapezoidal dipole element are examined in terms of VSWR, radiation pattern and gain. Moreover, the designed antenna is fabricated and the manufactured antenna is measured using near-field measurement system. It can be concluded that the designed antenna will be useful for military or civilian applications.
