Abstract

This study deals with the technology of the direct milling of cemented carbide by an ultra- precision machine tool with an aerostatic spindle. Recently, as the development of technology of cutting tool, several studies have addressed direct milling of cemented carbide. However, few studies have focused on dynamic performance of ultra-precision machine tool for direct milling of cemented carbide. Therefore, we fabricated high quality mold for glass lens by direct milling of cemented carbide, by focusing on dynamic performance of ultra-precision machine tool. As a result, the high quality surface consisted of the high form accuracy and the mirror surface finish was obtained by suitable tool path.
