Abstract

The purpose of this study is to test hypotheses about the extent to which employee tenure plays a role in the effects of the managerial coaching competence of leader's on employee job satisfaction. The survey has been carried out on 217 employees of less than five year tenure in the small and medium sized enterprises in Gwangju, Korea. SPSS/PC is used to analyze the survey data. The result shows that first, the understanding of coaching philosophy has a primary effect on the job satisfaction for those employees with less than 1 year tenure. Second, communication skills have the major effect on the job satisfaction of those employees with the 1-3 year tenure. Third, coaching process management turns out to be the key factor of the job satisfaction of those employees with the 3-5 year tenure. These results suggest that a managerial coaching strategy aimed at employee training and development should be planned and implemented based on employee tenure. keywords: coaching competency, coaching philosophy, communication skill, coaching process Received (January 8, 2016), Review Result(January 22, 2016) Accepted(January 29, 2016), Published(February 29, 2016) 61743 Dept.
