Abstract

Abstract The αi dielectric relaxation process has been investigated in polyvinylidene fluoride films stretched from 1:1 to 7:1, before and after corona charging, to an applied field of 4 × 108 Vm−1 using the Hamon approximation technique. Prior to corona charging it was found that the relaxation amplitude increased with increasing stretch ratio. The αi process may be considerably suppressed by corona charging.
