Abstract

1. 1. The effects of hemicholinium-3 (HC-3) on membrane potentials in single dorsal flight-muscle fibres of the adult fleshfly, Sarcophaga bullata, were studied with intracellular microelectrodes. 2. 2. Both abdominally injected and topically applied HC-3, an agent known to inhibit acetylcholine (ACh) synthesis in mammalian nervous tissue, reduced the rate of rise and decreased the amplitude of the excitatory post synaptic potentials (EPSP). 3. 3. These effects of HC-3 were reversible with a saline rinse and rest.
