Abstract

Abstract The kinetic redundancy present in the biomechanical models of complex joints has presented an obstacle in estimating the joint reaction forces during simulation of complex physical activities. Six anatomical models used for the spinal loading studies and six cost functions suggested by various groups were considered in determining their effects on the predicted joint reaction forces. Only the type of anatomical model that was used significantly affected the predicted spinal loads.
