Abstract
We overview the general scaling behaviour of the effective temperature inquenches of simple non-disordered systems, such as ferromagnets, to and to belowTC. Emphasis is on the behaviour as the dimensionality is varied.Consequences for the shape of the asymptotic parametric representationare derived. In particular, this is always trivial in critical quenches withTC>0. We clarify that thequench to TC = 0 at the lowercritical dimensionality dL, cannot be regarded as a critical quench. Implications for the behaviour of the exponenta of the ageing response function in quenches to belowTC are developed.
