Abstract
The effect of the deposition of thin Ge coatings on thin Sn and Tl films is reported. T c for Sn is reduced while T c for Tl is increased. An anomalous increase in T c for Tl appears for approximately a monolayer coating of Ge which is interpreted as evidence for “surface superconductivity”. The decrease in T c for Sn is attributed to the removal of electrons from the Sn to form the contact potential.
