Abstract

The effectiveness of turning of polymeric materials with cutting ceramics is evaluated. It is experimentally proven that the turning of caprolon and fluoroplastic using a cutting insert made of КНТ16 cermet provides a higher quality of the machined surface. The roughness parameters of the surface machined with cermet cutting inserts are lower than when turning with ВК8 tungsten-cobalt alloy inserts, and a different type of chip is also formed. Keywords: thermoplastic, turning, cutting tool, tungsten-cobalt hard alloy, cutting ceramic, cermet, chip formation, roughness. erenkov@list.ru
