Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of transurethral prostatic dilatation on national institute of the health chronic prostatitis symptom index(NIH-CPS), international prostate symptom score(IPSS) and related prostate symptoms in patients with BPH and urinary retention. Methods From August 2017 to August 2018, 90 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) and urinary retention were selected in our hospital as subjects, were randomly divided into two groups according to computer-generated number table method, with 45 cases in each group. The control group was treated with transurethral prostate plasma resection. Transurethral prostatic dilatation was performed in the experimental group. The NIH-CPS, IPSS socre and the improvement of prostate symptoms before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results The duration of operation, intraoperative blood loss, bladder washing time, postoperative indwelling catheter and hospitalization time in the experimental group were less than those in the control group, with statistically significant(P<0.05). After the operation, the NIH-CPSI and IPSS scores of the experimental group were lower than those of the control group, with statistically significant(P<0.05). After the operation, the maximum urinary flow rate(Qmax) of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group, and residual urine volume(RUV) and international index of erectile dysfunction5(IIEF-5) scores were lower than those of the control group, with statistically significant(P<0.05). The incidence of complications in the experimental group was 4.44%, lower than that in the control group (17.78%), with statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusions Transurethral prostatic dilatation for BPH can shorten the operation time, reduce the surgical trauma, improve the prostate symptoms with few complications. Key words: Prostatic Hyperplasia; Urinary Retention; transurethral columnar balloon dilation of prostate
