Abstract

Testosterone exercises a negative feedback upon pituitary gonadotrophs, paiticularly presumptive LH producers, of both the normal male and normal female mouse. In sharp contrast, the effect of testosterone upon the corresponding cells of Tfm/Y♂ can best be described as a positive feedback. These cells of Tfm/Y♀ atrophy after castration and show remarkable hypertrophy in response to continuous administration of testosterone.
