Abstract
1. 1. The effect of temperature on urine flow, renal tubular water reabsorption and renal glucose reabsorption was investigated in the white sucker. 2. 2. Urine flow increased with increasing temperature over the range 2 to 18°C ( Q 10 = 2·21). 3. 3. Temperature did not significantly affect the proportion of filtered water which was reabsorbed and had only a slight effect on the proportion of filtered glucose reabsorbed ( Q 10 = 1·21). 4. 4. Intermittent glomerular function appears to be the means by which the rate of urine flow is controlled in the white sucker.
