Abstract
In this study, the effect of story map method on improving of reading com- prehension skills of a student having lack of reading comprehension. The study was carried out on a student, suitably selected according to the aim of the study, in sev- enth class. The selected student was required to read the passages which are suitable to his level in Turkish text book. He was asked totally six questions including 3 basic and 3 deep comprehension questions. He was required to read the sub-class level reading passages because he had difficulty in reading and he was required to answer the questions about each reading passages. In the result of assessment done before application, it was determined that the student’s reading comprehension level is %13 in the 7 th class level, %20 in the 6 th class level and %50 in the 5 th class level. The teaching was started at the level of 5 th class in order to improve the student’s reading comprehension skills. It was seen that there was an improvement in student’s reading comprehension skills in the result of teaching lasting 2.5 months with the method of story map.
