Abstract

The effect of some casting parameters on the effectiveness of the austenite grain boundary pinning by Ti(N,C), (Ti,V)(N,C) V(N,C) and A1N particles in low-alloyed steels was investigated. The investigation was carried out on laboratory steel ingots cast under controlled conditons simulating chosen parameters of continuous casting. The grain growth characteristics and the grain coarsening temperature (GCT) were established for as-cast and hot-worked conditions. Analysis of morphology and composition of the pinning particles was also carried out.
