Abstract

The risk of pregnancy complications in patients PCOS is increased, including; pregnancy induced hypertension, preeclampsia, preterm birth and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). In the non PCOS population, prenatal smoking is associated with preterm birth, placental abruption, intra-uterine growth restriction and an inverse relationship with pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH). It remains unclear whether an association between smoking and GDM exists with studies reporting confliction results. We sought to investigate whether there is an association between pregnancy complications and smoking in women with PCOS.
