Abstract
This study considered the effect of selective visiting on anxiety levels of mothers during the first seven days of the postnatal period. Seventy-eight mothers discharged into the locality before the seventh postnatal day were invited onto the study. Both the mothers and the midwives were asked to complete separate questionnaires. The data from 46 responses show that there does not appear to be an effect on mean anxiety levels of mothers who are selectively visited in this initial early period.
