He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Loyola College, Baltimore, Maryland, in 1950. Subsequently, he acquired training in Metallurgy at U. S. Naval Postgraduate School, University of Maryland, and Johns Hopkins University. The author's professional experience includes teaching at the Naval Postgraduate School, research in high-temperature metallurgy at Naval Research Laboratory, and corrosion research at the U. S.
