Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of rational-emotive therapy on social function and psychological state of schizophrenia patients.Methods According to the order in hospital,86 patients with convalescent schizophrenia were divided into the study group and the control group.The control group was given conventional treatment,nursing and health education.The study group adopted rational-emotive therapy intervention.Symptom rating scale,Social Disability Screening Scale and medication compliance were used to evaluate the effects respectively.Results Before the intervention,two groups of patients with symptom checklist (SCL-90) score difference didnt have statistical significance (P >0.05) ; After 10 weeks,SCL-90 scores of all factors in study group were lower than those in the control group in addition to paranoia,psychosis factor.The difference was significant (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01) ; SDDS factor scores in study group were lower than those in the control group.The difference was significant (P < 0.01).Medication compliance in the study group was significantly better than that in the control group (P < 0.01).Conclusions Rational-emotive therapy can help schizophrenia patients improve medication compliance,the level of mental health and the social function of schizophrenia patients.
