Abstract
Objective To explore the effect of rational emotive therapy on chronic sorrow in psychological nursing in families of epileptic children .Methods A total of 90 epileptic-children patients were randomly divided into intervention group (n=45) and control group (n=45).The control group received the routine therapy and nursing care , while those in the intervention group were received rational emotive therapy , formulated “cognitive training-behavior regulation-emotional expression”.Adapted Burke Questionnaire ( ABQ) and the Coping Health Inventory for Parents ( CHIP ) were used to assess two groups before and after 4 weeks intervention.Results Through the rational emotive therapy ,the scores of the ABQ and fear, anger, anxiety, pain, despair, fear, guilt in the study group were lower than before (t=3.193,3.081,2.972,3.279,5.023, 3.834,3.494,3.199,respectively;P〈0.05).The scores of CHIP and 3 subscales were better than before (t=2.889,3.107,4.275,3.031,respectively;P 〈0.05).Conclusions Rational emotive therapy can help the patients with chronic sorrow , which could be widely used in clinical application .
