Abstract
An obligate ambush-type predator, the predaceous larvae of the water scavenger beetle Hydrochara obtusata (Say), changes ambush sites more frequently at low prey densities than at high densities. The frequency of change of ambush site in H. obtusata larvae is not related to capture rate or satiation.
