Abstract

Matoa, a Papuan fruit, is known to taste like a cross between longan, rambutan, and durian. Therefore, Matoa has seed storage and plant propagation restrictions. The tissue culture method of matoa propagation is used to solve this issue. This research aims to provide vegetative planting material that can be propagated in vitro. The study was conducted from June 2021 to January 2022 at the Laboratory of Plant Physiology and Biotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta, using a completely randomized design pattern (CRD) 2x4 treatment factors for growth regulators. There were 16 treatment combinations, which were repeated three times. The first factor is Indole Acetic Acid (IAA) concentration, which has four levels: 0 ppm, 0.5 ppm, 1 ppm, and 1.5 ppm. The second factor is Benzyl Amino Purine (BAP) concentration, which has four levels: 0 ppm, 2 ppm, 4 ppm, and 6 ppm. The results revealed that root emergence time, leaf emergence time, root number, and leaf number all had high growth rates. The number of leaves and stem nodes correlated, indicating that matoa explant growth was linked.
