Abstract

1. The wear of steels 30GL, 40Kh, 40KhN depends on their hardness. 2. A linear relation has been established between the absolute loss of weight of the tested metal and the appropriate hardness. The wear of steels 30GL, 40Kh, 40KhN decreases in proportion to increasing hardness. 3. In the low hardness range (150–200 BHN), the wear of steels 30GL and 40Kh is identical (only steel 30GL of similar hardness is employed on excavators; steel 40Kh is used at high hardness levels). 4. In the range of medium and high hardnesses, the wear of steel 40Kh is higher than of steel 30GL. The wear of steel 30GL is somewhat higher than of steel 40KhN.
