Abstract
Objective: The risk of injury of the cochlear nerve during some surgeries of the cerebellopontine angle is high. It has been shown that granulocyte colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) has a neuroprotective activity by inhibition of apoptosis and inflammation in various experimental models. About the effect of G-CSF to the cochlear nerve and its nuclei has however never been reported. The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of the neuroprotective effect of G-CSF after a partial cochlear nerve lesion on rats.
