Abstract
Three sewage waters obtained from Lundtofte Municipal waste water plant in Denmark were treated on a laboratory scale using equivimolar doses of aluminium or/and iron salts. The coagulants were: aluminium sulphate, AVR, poly-aluminium chloride, ferric chloride sulphate and a combination of lime and ferrous sulphate oxidized by aeration. The treated waters were analysed for turbidity, COD, suspended solids and particles with between 0.56 and 7.19 μm. The particles were analysed in 12 size classes with a Coulter Counter Multisizer. Filtered samples were analysed for COD, ortho-phosphate, protein and carbohydrates.
