Abstract

The influence of final-state correlations on the triple differential cross section for K shell ionization of many electron atoms in coplanar symmetric geometry is studied using a semirelativistic Coulomb-projected Born model including a correlation factor. For high nuclear charge Z, correlation effects are found to be mostly small, but significant changes in the calculated cross sections are predicted at small relative emission angles. For low and intermediate values of Z, there are indications for substantial post collision interaction effects even at impact energies of several tens of keV.
