Abstract

It is the most expedient way to use digital terrain maps as the earth surface model for radar echo signal simulation. In this case, the discrete nature of digital maps leads to the appearance of particular errors in calculating the parameters of simulated signals. The objective of this work is to determine the error dependence of the sampling interval on the map. The general relations connecting errors for calculating the power of the echo signals and their correlation functions with the correlation function of the random field describing the distribution of the surface reflecting properties are obtained. The expressions that connect the error values with the sampling interval for the Markov random field are obtained on their basis. These expressions are specified for the most common reconstruction filters. The requirements for the sampling interval for achieving the adjusted error level are defined.
