Abstract

The effect of a DC electric field on the dielectric response of the flux-grown solid solution Pb0.94Ba0.06Sc0.5Nb0.5O3 crystals has been studied. This composition belongs to the crossover compositional range between the low-Ba-content normal ferroelectric and high-Ba-content relaxor ferroelectric states and is characterized by a low value of a threshold field. Application of the electric field E on a zero field cooled crystal in the ⟨100⟩ direction induces a transition into a ferroelectric state after some delay time τ which strongly depends both on temperature T and on E. In contrast to ⟨111⟩ PbMg1/3Nb2/3O3 crystals where the similar field-induced kinetic phase transition has been already observed, τ values decrease as temperature grows only well below the depoling temperature Td, but in the vicinity of Td they increase with T.
