Abstract
Abstract The cross section for the reaction 4 He(γ, d) 2 H has been calculated using the relative function for the final state deuterons obtained from a previous resonating-group calculation. It is found that the present calculation, which employs an Irving-Gunn function that gives the proper rms radius for 4 He, agrees with the experimental data, while a calculation using a plane wave relative function cannot fit all the data even when the α-particle size is treated as a variable parameter.
