Abstract
Positron lifetimes in annealed and cyclically deformed aluminum and copper were measured by the delayed coincidence method. The deformation increased the lifetime of the primary component by 26% in Al and by 46% in Cu. It is proposed that trapping of positrons in dislocation cores can account for the observations.
