Abstract

The effects of electronic configuration interaction on the energy levels of (3d) 5 systems in cubic crystalline fields have been calculated. The results indicate that configuration interactions contribute to the energy an amount comparable to that from ligand screening, spin—orbit interaction, and crystal fields of lower symmetry for (3d) 5 systems.
