Abstract

Eimeria tenella infection causes marked changes in the leukocyte picture during the course of an infection. A lymphopenia and heterophilia were observed on the 5th day and an eosinophilia on the 10th day of the infection. No significant changes were observed in the monocytes and basophils through the course of the infection. A marked leukocytosis began on the 7th day and persisted through the recovery phase of the disease.
