  • An antioxygenic effect is exhibited by bixin in the early phases of the light-catalyzed oxidation of linoleate

  • Bixin acts synergistically with cr-tocopherol to enhance its antioxidant activity and produces a markedly extended induction period. This activity appears to be caused by the unaltered carotenoid

  • A latent acceleration of the reaction without tocopherol appears to be the result of the action of decomposition products of bixin
