Abstract

This aims of study to determine the influence of adolescent sinetron on the character of students and how to prevent the negative effects of adolescent sinetron on the character of students in elementary schools. This type of research is descriptive qualitative,the researchers try to dissect the phenomenon in fact and systematically. The research subjects were students of grade IV-V aged 10-12 years and teachers of SD Negeri 1 Kingkang, Wonosari District, Klaten Regency, 2017/2018 Academic Year. The total number of fourth and fifth grade students is 38 students. The data collection techniques use interview, observation and documentation techniques. The data analysis techniques used in this study are data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. Checking the validity of the data using source triangulation that compares the results of data collection of subjects with people who have information. The results of the study can be concluded that there are negative effects and negative impact of sinetron on the character of grade IV-V students aged 10-12 years at SD Negeri 1 Kingkang, Wonosari District, Klaten Regency, 2017/2018 Academic Year. The results of the study indicate that many students who love watching sinetron and behave badly and imitate the behavior in sinetron. Students who watched sinetron and had bad characters around 58% of 15 male and 7 female students, which amounts 22 students as research samples. How to prevent the negative impact of adolescent sinetron through directing teachers to students and parents and the attention of parents in accompanying children while watching television.
