Abstract
Various cardioplegic solutions are currently used during cardiac surgeries. There are solutions that can be administered once, such as del Nido, to minimize intermittent dose interruptions of cardioplegia during surgery and facilitate less invasive cardiac procedures. This review demonstrates that del Nido cardioplegia, which is generally used in congenital heart surgeries, can also be used in adults, has positive effects on the cell membrane, provides successful myocardial protection and advantage, and also investigates the evidence for its safety and efficacy.
