Abstract

It has been ten years since the Sachar Committee submitted its report on the social, economic and educational status of the Muslim community in India. The report stated that Muslims are one of the most backward educational communities in India who also suffer other social and economic disadvantages. This paper looks at the educational status of Muslims in India after ten years of the Sachar committee report and argues that even after ten years the educational status of Muslims continues to be far worse than other religious communities.
